UPPER EYELID BLEPHAROPLASTY
Upper eyelid Blepharoplasty is a surgical operation which is aimed at removal of excess skin from upper eyelid in order to get rid of the tired look .If combined with the lower eyelid surgery it makes the person look much younger.
WHO IS GOOD CANDIDATE &WHAT ARE INDICATIONS?
Indications for upper eyelid blepharoplasty include redundant and lax eyelid skin and preaponeurotic fat hernia ion that result in either functional visual symptoms or cosmetic concerns in affected patients. Dermatitis of the redundant skin can also be an indication for surgery.
ANAESTHETIC AND HOSPITAL STAY
This procedure is mostly performed under local anesthesia but can be performed under GA if patient cannot tolerate. It is day surgery procedure and upper eyelid blepharoplasty is fairly safe and patient able to drive back home if needed soon after surgery.
WILL THIS PROCEDURE LEAVE SCARS?
In the Upper eyelid blepharoplasty. The incision is in the skin crease of upper eyelid so it is in the upper eyelid and no one can see it so literally NO SCAR.
Complications of Upper Eyelid Blepahroplasty
Upper eyelid blepharoplasty is normally quite safe procedure and rarely any complications are reported. However known complications of upper eyelid lift is over or under correction,infection,bleeding or wound dehiscence.
WHAT IS THE RECOVERY PERIOD?
The recovery of this procedure will vary from patient to patient and you could return to work within 3-5 days. Light exercise may be resumed within 2 weeks but strenuous exercise should be avoided for at least 4 weeks. You will be given discharge instructions to follow and if you have any questions, please speak to Dr. Asif Bhatti or his clinic staff.
The recovery from the operation is very quick ,you just need to keep the steristrip over the wound ,no eye straining for 3 days like reading books .You are advised to wear dark glasses for 1 week if you are feeling photophobic.Light exercise can be started in 3 days and full work in 5 days.
